We’d like to give a warm welcome to Dr. K, Casa Recovery’s new Medical Director!
Dr. Valeh Karimkhani, D.O. is an adolescent and adult psychiatrist, dually board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.
We are excited to announce that she will be providing all of Casa Recovery’s clients with psychiatric consultations, physicals and continued follow-up throughout our treatment program. We’re thrilled to have Dr. K on board and to be providing this higher level of care to our clients.
As such an integral part of our program here at Casa Recovery we think it’s important that you are familiar with Dr. K and her specialties.
Dr. Karimkhani has been dedicated to serving the psychiatric needs of her community. She has extensive experience in emergency psychiatry, dual diagnosis, trauma, substance abuse, and adolescent psychiatry.
She is also one of a select few psychiatrists offering TMS treatment at her private practice location. TMS (Transcranial magnetic stimulation) stimulates nerve cells in the brain using magnetic fields in order to improve symptoms of depression. This method is typically used when other depression treatments aren’t available (like for patients with prescription drug addictions) or when other treatments just haven’t worked.
The addition of Dr. K also allows us to offer patients struggling with substance dependence ambulatory detox services if needed, as well as treatment with Vivitrol. Vivitrol is a prescription medication that can help individuals resist alcohol dependence by reducing enjoyment and cravings. This form of medication can be administered later in the treatment cycle. It’s important to note that using this medication is not a treatment for dependence, as it must be accompanied by programs, counseling and support.
Dr. Karimkhani is also a Major in the Army Reserves and has completed three tours of duty in the Middle East. She is dedicated to helping and healing our American heroes and soldiers.
